ROSEMONT, Ill. – Freshman Aiden Fink (Calgary, Alberta) was named Big Ten Hockey's Third Star of the Week following a six-point weekend in a home sweep over Lindenwood as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
This marks the second-straight weekly accolade for the rookie after garnering Second Star of the Week laurels last week. Fink tallied back-to-back three-point efforts in the sweep over the Lions with one goal and two assists each night.
The Calgary, Alberta native led the Big Ten and tied for the national lead on the week with his six points and four assists and he is currently riding career-best goal and point streaks of five games while having registered multiple points in four-straight contests.
Fink's 21 points this season are good for sixth in the nation and second in the Big Ten and rank tops in the conference for rookies and second nationally among first year players. His nine goals are good for third in the Big Ten, tied for 11th nationally and rank tied for first in the nation among freshmen.
The freshman's five-game goal streak is two shy of Evan Barratt's program record of seven-straight games from November 2, 2018, through November 23, 2018, while his four-consecutive games with multiple points is one game shy of the Penn State standard set by both Barratt and Alex Limoges '21 during that same November back in 2018.
Penn State resumes Big Ten play on Friday and Saturday as the Nittany Lions host No. 7 Minnesota in Hockey Valley. SRO tickets and verified resale tickets for both games can be purchased HERE.
