Four Penn State Field Hockey Players Earn NFHCA All-Region Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Four members of head coach Lisa Bervinchak Love's Penn State field hockey team were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as All-Region selections. Three Penn Staters were named NFHCA first team All-Region, and one was honored as NFHCA second team All-Region.

Senior Mackenzie Allessie, grad student Brie Barraco and senior Sophia Gladieux were named to the first team while junior Anouk Knuvers was a second team honoree.

Allessie is now a five-time first team All-Region selection. She had 23 points this season off nine goals and five assists and ended her collegiate career with 177 points off 61 goals and 45 assists. She leaves Penn State as a five-time first team All-Big Ten selection as well.

Barraco is now a two-time first team All-Region pick and a one-time second team selection. She had 105 saves this past season and a 1.64 goals against average to go along with a .789 save percentage. Barraco ends her collegiate career with 455 saves, a 1.56 goals against average and a .758 save percentage. She was a first team All-American a year ago.

Gladieux is now a four-time first team All-Region honoree. She led Penn State in scoring this year with 45 points off a team-best 21 goals and three assists. She is now fourth all-time at Penn State in scoring with 158 career points off 74 goals and 10 assists and has 22 career game winning goals. Gladieux was the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year once gain and is a returning first team All-American as well.

Knuvers picked up her first All-Region award with her second team nod this year. She anchored Penn State's defense and had three assists this season, the first of her career. Knuvers is a multiple NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and was a second team All-Big Ten selection this year as well.

Penn State posted a 9-8 overall record in Bervinchak Love's first season as head coach.
