Three Nittany Lions Land United Soccer Coaches All-Region Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Penn State women's soccer saw a trio of individuals land placements on the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region teams, the organization announced. Senior+ midfielder Cori Dyke and senior+ defender Kate Wiesner each appeared on the All-North Region First Team, while graduate goalkeeper Katherine Asman secured All-North Region Third Team accolades. 
 
Dyke, a native of Littleton, Colorado, cemented herself as one of the strongest individual performers in the nation this season, as the veteran holding midfielder and center back performed in an impactful and versatile capacity for the Nittany Lions. Her fifth year in the Blue & White was her most productive season on both ends of the pitch, setting a single-season career high in scoring with 16 total points split between five goals and six assists. She appeared and started in every match for Penn State over the course of the 2023 campaign, leading all field position players in total minutes with 1,912 highlighted by 16 matches with 90 minutes played or more. Dyke becomes Penn State's 15th All-North Region First Team designee since United Soccer Coaches placed PSU in the North region in 2018, and the 73rd First Team All-Region selection in program history.
 
Hailing from Monrovia, California, Wiesner was a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end for the Nittany Lions in the 2023 season. She appeared in 21 matches and made 20 starts, playing a single-season career high 1,688 minutes in the field. Wiesner tallied a pair of goals on the season, matching her career high for a single year, while dishing out five total assists for nine points overall. A calming presence as an outside back for the past five years, Wiesner completed her stint with the Nittany Lions boasting 30 career points from the back line highlighted by a stellar 18 career assists. Wiesner's appointment to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team was her first career All-Region recognition and the 16th First Team All-North Region choice for PSU since 2018. Wiesner also became Penn State's 74th First Team All-Region honoree in school annals.
 
One of the most dominant goalkeepers in the Big Ten Conference over the past five years, Asman closed her collegiate career in Happy Valley out with her first career All-Region recognition. The Roswell, Georgia, native led the Big Ten this season in goals-against average with a 0.642 mark and additionally paced the league while ranking 22nd nationally in save percentage with a 0.856 tally. Asman finished as the fourth-winningest goalkeeper in Penn State program history, booking a 55-21-10 overall record. She additionally ranked inside the top-three at PSU all-time in saves, shutouts and minutes played by a keeper. Asman became the 14th individual in program history to land All-Region Third Team honors from the United Soccer Coaches while booking the third All-North Region Third Team accolade since 2018.
 
Penn State's 30th varsity season, led by the team's trio of captains in Dyke, Wiesner and Asman, was one of the most remarkable campaigns in recent memory for the Blue & White. PSU finished with a 16-3-4 overall record and booked the deepest NCAA Tournament run by any PSU squad in the last five years. One of the most storied programs across all of Division I, the Blue & White recorded their 29th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid in the 2023 season, marking the second-longest active streak in the nation behind North Carolina. Penn State secured its 14th appearance in the national quarterfinals in 2023, marking the most Elite Eight appearances by any Big Ten Conference member institution.
