UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State Men's Tennis team and head coach Jeff Zinn has announced their Spring 2024 schedule. The Nittany Lions are set for 15 home matches.
The schedule consists of nine Big Ten matchups and 15 non-conference meetings.
The Nittany Lions begin their season with five home events against seven non-conference teams. The season opener on Sunday, Jan. 21 features a matchup against Cleveland State. The squad will face Toledo on Friday, Jan. 26 and Temple on Sunday, Jan. 28. A doubleheader against Delaware and Lehigh is set for Saturday, Feb. 3. The Nittany Lions then face Georgetown and Mt. Saint Mary's on Sunday, Feb. 4 for another doubleheader matchup.
Following the home stretch, the blue and white will travel to New York City, Feb. 10-11, for non-conference matchups against St. John's, on Saturday, and Columbia, on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions return home to face familiar opponents from their fall tournaments, including Liberty on Friday, Feb. 16, Old Dominion on Sunday, Feb. 18, and Penn on Sunday, Feb. 25.
On Saturday, March 2, Penn State begins its spring break travel starting at Princeton. The blue and white will then head to Tampa, Fla. on Wednesday, March 6 to compete against South Florida.
Returning from spring break matches, the men will travel once again to face Cornell on Sunday, March 17.
The Nittany Lions opening Big Ten play at home against Illinois on Friday, March 22. That same weekend, the squad will face Northwestern on Sunday, March 24.
Coach Zinn and the team will travel to the state of Indiana to face Big Ten opponents Indiana, on Friday, March 29, and Purdue, on Sunday, March 31.
Penn State return home for three home matches, beginning with reigning Big Ten Champions, Ohio State, on Friday, April 5. Big Ten play continues with Michigan on Friday, April 12, and Michigan State on Sunday, April 14.
The men conclude the regular season at Wisconsin on Friday, April 19 and at Nebraska on Sunday, April 21.
Following the regular season, Penn State will compete at the Big Ten Championships, hosted by Northwestern, in Evanston, Illinois. The tournament will run April 25-28.
The NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament first and second rounds, held at regional sites, begin on May 3-4 followed by super regional rounds on May 10-11. The NCAA Championships will be held in Stillwater, Okla. from May 16-27.
