Jaclyn Khrol Named Coach Nikki Franke Classic Champion

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; November 4, 2023 – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams traveled to Philadelphia, Pa to participate in the Coach Nikki Franke Classic at Temple University Saturday and Sunday. Participating schools included Duke, Drexel, University of Florida, Navy, Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr College, Boston College, John's Hopkins, University of Pennsylvania, Stevens, NYU and Haverford. The women fenced Saturday and crowned one champion in epee and had a top eight finish in saber. 
 
Junior Jaclyn Khrol finished on top of the women's epee leaderboard with a convincing 15-8 win over Duke's Vanessa Lin. Claire Haas finished in 34th place. 
 
In women's foil, freshmen Eden De La Cruz snagged 15th place with Thea Fernandes right behind in 16th. Mikaela Yhip came in 22nd place 
 
Mia Novick led the saber squad with a 7th place finish, followed by Aurora Colter in 11th place and Amelia Baker in 27th. 
 
The tournament will resume Sunday with the men's portion.
