WINTHROP, Mass. - Three Penn State women's ice hockey student-athletes captured CHA weekly awards on Monday. Mya Vaslet, Maggie MacEachern, and Stella Retrum each received a weekly award nod.
Vaslet captured CHA Forward of the Week after her three-goal showing in Saturday's game at Lindenwood. The hat-trick marked her first of her career and was the first by any Nittany Lion this season. Vaslet scored one goal in each period against the Lions which contributed to Penn State's 8-2 victory. On the season, the Stittsville, Ontario native has four goals and two assists for six points. This is Vaslet's first CHA weekly nod of her career.
MacEachern earned CHA Defensive Player of the Week for her one goal and two assist performance over the weekend. She also recorded three blocks over the two games at Lindenwood. She tallied one assist in game one of the series then followed up with one goal and one assist in the next game. Overall, the graduate student has tallied two goals and four assists for six points. This is the second CHA weekly award for MacEachern this season.
Retrum was named CHA Rookie of the Week for her one goal and one assist play in the series at Lindenwood. The Maple Grove, Minn. native registered a goal and assist in game two of the series to add her season tally to two goals and two assists. This is Retrum's first CHA weekly award nod in her career.
