Women's Hockey Earns Three CHA Weekly Awards

BOSTON - The Penn State women's ice hockey team captured three College Hockey America weekly awards on Monday afternoon. Brianna Brooks, Lyndie Lobdell, and Josie Bothun each captured a weekly award honor.
 
Brooks who was named Forward of the Week, led the Nittany Lions in points this week with one goal and one assist. Her assist on the Nittany Lions first goal against No. 13 Yale on Friday night led Penn State to a three-goal comeback to defeat the Bulldogs 3-2. She is currently on a four-game point streak and has five goals and six assists on the year. This is her first career CHA weekly award honor.
 
Lobdell earns Defensive Player of the Week honors after she led the Nittany Lion defense in goals this week tallying one goal against No. 13 Yale which came on the power-play in game one of the series. Her opening goal was the beginning of a three-goal comeback for the Nittany Lions leading to the defeat of the Bulldogs 3-2. With her goal, she notched her 53rd career point, which ranks second among active CHA defenders. On the year, Lobdell has registered five goals and five assists including four power-play goals. This is her first weekly award honor this season.
 
Bothun earns her second straight CHA Goaltender of the Week honor after going 1-1-0 in net this week while registering a GAA of 2.02 and save percentage of .944. She recorded a total of 67 saves which featured 45 in game two of the series against No. 13 Yale. Her 27 save second period in game two was a CHA season high. On the year, Bothun registers a record of 9-8-1 with a GAA of 2.40 and save percentage of .910.
 
The Nittany Lions return to action in the new year when they host Union at Pegula Ice Arena on Friday, January 5 at 6 p.m.
