UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two members of the Penn State field hockey team were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as All-Americans with the announcement of the awards today. Senior Sophia Gladieux was named an NFHCA first team All-American and senior+ Mackenzie Allessie was named an NFHCA third team All-American.
Gladieux picked up her third straight first team All-America honor and her fourth overall. She was a second team pick as a freshman in 2020. Gladieux led Penn State in scoring this year with 45 points off a team-best 21 goals and three assists. She is now fourth all-time at Penn State in scoring with 158 career points off 74 goals and 10 assists and has 22 career game winning goals. The honor caps off another superb awards season for the Penn State forward. Gladieux was first team All-Big Ten, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, 2023 All-Big Ten Tournament Team and first team NFHCA All-Region.
Allessie became a five-time All-American with her third team honor this season. She was a first team selection twice, a second team honoree once and now a third team pick twice. Allessie had 23 points this season off nine goals and five assists and ended her collegiate career with 177 points off 61 goals and 45 assists. She leaves Penn State as a five-time first team All-Big Ten selection after earning the honor again this year and was a first team All-Region pick for the fifth time as well.
Penn State posted a 9-8 overall record in head coach Lisa Bervinchak Love's first season as head coach.
