Karnes Takes First Place in CGA All-Star Games, Named Meet MVP

 
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's gymnast Josh Karnes was named parallel bars champion in the second annual College Gymnastics Association (CGA) All-Star Games on December 16. The junior was also named the meet's MVP for his performance. 
 
The All-Star Games started in 2022, where the nation's best collegiate gymnastics compete against each other divided into two divisions, the East and the West. All-Stars were selected on their 2023 NCAA Championship results.
 
Gymnasts pre-record their routines and get judged on a 10-point system by the judges in the virtual event. 
 
Karnes received a score of 9.675 to earn the parallel bars title. 

Michael Jaroh earned a 9.575 in the pommel horse followed by his teammate Ethan Dick who also received a 9.575. 
 
Matt Underhill tabbed a score of 9.675 in the still rings.
 
The East won for the second year in the row with a score of 228.725.
 
Penn State will kick off their 2024 campaign at Rec Hall against Army Friday, January 5 at 7 p.m.
