Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Performs Well on Second Day of Big AL Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State Swimming and Diving Team achieved 14 personal career best as well as eight NCAA B Cuts.

The men's team finished in the second position through two days this weekend while the women's team currently holds the third spot.

Top Swims

Junior Maura Fluehr was dominant in the 100 fly for the Nittany Lions, finishing in the third position with a time of 54.12.

Victor Baganha continued to have success in the 100 fly finishing first with a 45.37, a NCAA B Cut time.

Toni Slavica was the third-place finisher in the 400 IM which he swam in a season best 3.49.48, marking another B Cut.

Catherine Meisner earned a NCAA B Cut finishing the 200 free in 1:47.09 which was good for third place.

Eduardo Cisternas rounded out the 200 free clocking a 1:36.12 for the Nittany Lions which finished in the third position.

Mariano Lazzerini was the winner of the 100 breast on the men's side, dominating the competition and posting a 52.56. His time qualified him for an NCAA B Cut.

Cooper Morley was the winner of the 100 back of the men's side for the Nittany Lions. His time of 46.58 set the precedent for the invitational his third B Cut time of the weekend. Byrne was the third-place finisher for the Nittany Lions touching the wall in 47.33, also achieving a B Cut.

Top Relays

The men's 200-yard medley relay containing Cooper Morely, Mariano Lazzerini, Baganha and Tommy Hurley finished in the top spot for the Nittany Lions. Their group time of 1:25.54 led the way and surpassed their seed time by over two seconds.

The Nittany Lions second team in the 200-yard medley relay finished in the third spot with Lachlan Byrne, Ben Doyle, Matthew Bittner and Tylor Kim touching in 1:37.11.

Morgan Moore, Catherine Meisner, Julia Meisner and Henderson combined for the second-best time in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:13.87.

Top Dives

Daphne Wils posted a score of 283.45 in the one-meter dive which placed her in the third position for the invitational.

Kevin Sullivan impressed with a score of 315.70 which placed second in the three-meter dive.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the Princeton Invitational tomorrow as the prelims will swim at 10 a.m. while the finals swim at 5p.m.
