UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's ice hockey team captured a pair of the College Hockey America weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon. Forward Tessa Janecke was named CHA Forward of the Week while goalie Josie Bothun earned CHA Goaltender of the Week honors.
Janecke receives her second straight weekly honor after a four-point weekend featuring three goals and one assist. She tallied two points in game-two of the series against Robert Morris which included her second short-handed goal of the season which aided in the Nittany Lions 4-1 victory over the Colonials. The Orangeville, Ill. also continued her dominate play in the faceoff dot with 42 wins out of 57 attempts. On the season, Janecke leads the team in points with 26 off eight goals and 18 assists.
Bothun recorded two wins in goal including one shutout victory in Friday's 2-0 victory. She registered a 0.50 GAA alongside a .974 save percentage. Her shutout victory tied her for the CHA's career leader in shutouts with 19 in her four years. This is Bothun's second goaltender of the week honor this season. On the season, the Wyoming, Minn. native registers a GAA of 2.45 and save percentage of .904 with a record of 8-7-1.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, Dec. 8 when they host No. 13 Yale for a two-game series. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
