No. 15 Women's Hockey Falls to No. 13/13 Yale 3-1 in Series Finale

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 15 Penn State women's ice hockey team dropped the second game of the series against No. 13/13 Yale 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Yale opened the scoring 8:46 into the first period with a power-play goal from Carina DiAntonio.
  • Yale center Elle Hartjie put the second goal on the board 10:09 into the second period with an assist by Emma DeCorby.
  • Penn State answered 4:25 into the third period with an even strength goal by Brianna Brooks.
  • Yale center Jordan Ray scored the final goal of the contest on an empty net assisted by Elle Hartjie with just 26 seconds to play in the third period.

GOALTENDERS

  • Josie Bothun was in the net for the Nittany Lions and made 45 saves and allowed just two goals.
  • Bothun is now 9-8-1 on the season. 

STATS AND NOTES

  • Brianna Brooks recorded her fifth goal of the season.
  • Tessa Janecke continued her strong faceoff performance going 17-27.
  • Penn State put up 24 shots to Yale's 47.
  • Penn State held its annual THON game in support of those affected by pediatric cancer.

  • The Nittany Lions will return to action on Friday, Jan. 5 at Pegula where they will host Union. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
