No. 10 Women's Hockey Lands Five on All-CHA Teams

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Five Penn State women's ice hockey student-athletes were named to All-CHA teams for the 2022-23 season on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Kiara Zanon, senior Izzy Heminger, and freshman Tessa Janecke were selected to the All-CHA first team. Junior Lyndie Lobdell was named to the All-CHA second team while Janecke and Kendall Butze were each placed on the CHA All-Rookie team for their performances throughout the 2022-23 season.

Penn State's five all-league honorees are tied for the second-most by the program in a single season, trailing only Penn State's seven honorees in 2020-21.

Zanon's third season as a Nittany Lion was an historic one in 2022-23. She broke Natalie Heising's record in single season goals which was 21 as she's currently recorded 25 this season. Zanon also broke her own single season program record in points from a season ago which was 41 as she's tallied 48 so far. She is a three-time CHA Forward of the Week recipient and captured two CHA Forward of the Month honors.

This is Zanon's third straight All-CHA award, including her third-straight All-CHA first team honor.

Heminger's impact as a defenseman has been critical to the program's success in her four years at Penn State. Heminger broke the single season program record for assists by a defenseman this season as she surpassed the 16-assist mark on February 4 against Syracuse. She's secured three CHA Defensive Player of the Week honors and two CHA Defensive Player of the Month nods as well.

This is Heminger's first All-CHA first team appearance and third All-CHA team selection in her career.

Lobdell was one of Penn State's top defensemen in 2022-23. She currently leads the team in blocked shots with 65 as well as aided in the Nittany Lion offense with two goals and 14 assists. The junior has also registered an impressive +16 rating this season. Lobdell has been named CHA Defensive Player of the Week two times this year.

This is her second All-CHA selection in her career as she was named to the CHA All-Rookie team in the 2020-21 season.

Janecke has had one of the best breakout seasons in Penn State history. She's broken every freshman single scoring record including goals, assists and points in 2022-23. She sits second on the team in points with 46 as she's tallied 22 goals and 24 assists. She is a six-time CHA Rookie of the Week recipient and a four-time CHA Rookie of the Month honoree.

She was also named HCA National Rookie of the Month for January as she recorded three goals and four assists for seven points in the month. This is Janecke's first All-CHA selections in her career.

Butze began her freshman campaign at Penn State with a strong showing as a defenseman. So far this season, Butze has registered an impressive 19 points off two goals and 17 assists. She's recorded a +30 rating and has 30 blocks on the year. The freshman was named CHA Rookie of the Week once this season as well. This is her first All-CHA selection in her career.

Penn State returns to action on Saturday, March 4 when they host Mercyhurst for the CHA Tournament Championship game. Puck-drop is set for 2 p.m.
