Men's Hockey Secures Third NCAA Tournament Berth, Earns No. 2 Seed in Allentown

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – On Sunday evening inside Pegula Ice Arena the 11th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions found out their fate earning their third NCAA Tournament berth in the past seven seasons. After making back-to-back tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018, Penn State will return to Allentown, Pennsylvania and the PPL Center for regional action on March 24-26.
 
Penn State, who is serving as the host institution for the Allentown Regional, earned an at-large bid for this season's tournament and are a No. 2 seed for the first time in program history after serving as the No. 3 seed during its previous two NCAA Tournaments appearances.
 
The No. 2 Nittany Lions will battle third-seeded Michigan Tech for the first time in program history on Friday, March 24 at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
 
The second semifinal matchup in the regional is top-seeded Michigan vs. No. 4 Colgate at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU and the championship game will pit the two winners against each other on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and air live on ESPN2.

The Lehigh Valley campus and Lehigh Valley alumni chapter are hosting a pre-game event at Bru Daddy's (732 Hamilton Street, Allentown PA) from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24. Penn State fans can pick up their shaker for the game as well as enjoy a pep rally by the Penn State Hockey Band, Cheerleaders, and Lion. Space is limited so fans are encouraged to pre-register for the event here.
 
Penn State is 21-15-1 this season marking the fifth time in the 11-year history of the program and the first since 2019-20 that the Nittany Lions hit the 20-win mark.
