UNIVERSITY PARK Pa.- Head men's soccer coach Jeff Cook inks a big recruit in Morgan Marshall from Lexington, Ky. Marshall adds significant MLS Academy experience to Cook's defense with his induction to the fall roster.
"Morgan Marshall is an exciting addition to our deep and talented 2023 recruiting class," said head coach Jeff Cook. "Morgan has been in an outstanding environment at FC Cincinnati and has been a consistent performer with every team he has played for. We look forward to welcoming him to our Nittany Lion family this summer and to seeing him develop on and off the field at Penn State."
The strong defenseman joins the Nittany Lions from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky. where he is set to graduate from this month. Marshall has vast experience playing at a very high level of soccer. He spent a year playing for Real Salt Lake Academy at the U-17 level from 2019-2020 and currently rosters on Cincinnati Football Club at the U-19 level and U-17 level in seasons prior. The Cincinnati Football Club Academy team competes in league play, Generation adidas competitions and select international competitions.
The experienced defender also played for Sparta United, based in Salt Lake City, Utah for four seasons.
Competitive athletics runs deep in the Marshall family. His father Tyrone is the current head coach of FC Cincinnati 2, the reserve team of Major League Soccer's FC Cincinnati. Tyrone has sizable playing and coaching experience competing for 14 years at the professional level and nine years coaching at that level. His two sisters are part of competitive cheerleading teams, one at the high school level and one at the Division I level at Western Kentucky University. His two younger brothers also play for FC Cincinnati at the U-15 and U-19 levels.
When asked why he chose Penn State, Marshall responded, "Penn State is the place that felt most like home. It also felt like the institution that would best help me to learn and to grow."
