Men’s Soccer Announces Fall 2023 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men's soccer team, led by head coach Jeff Cook, releases its full 2023 fall schedule on Thursday afternoon. The Nittany Lions are slated for 16 regular season games including 10 at Jeffrey Field.
 
The Blue and White open 2023 competition at Pittsburgh on Thursday, Aug. 24 at and return to Jeffrey Field on Sunday, Aug. 27 to host Le Moyne in their regular season home opener. The matchup will be the first game for the Dolphins at the Division I level after making the jump from Division II earlier this summer.
 
Another opponent from the north comes to Happy Valley in the same week on Friday, Sept. 1 when Penn State will host the defending National Champions, Syracuse. Both of the first two home games are of significance to the Nittany Lions' assistant coach Sean Lawlor who is a Le Moyne soccer alumni and who previously worked as an assistant coach at Syracuse.
 
Penn State continues with two non-conference opponents, St. Johns and Penn the following week before kicking off Big Ten play at Ohio State on Friday, Sept. 15. A Tuesday night contest against Maryland at Jeffrey Field on Sept. 19 marks the Big Ten home opener.
 
The Nittany Lions proceed with two out-of-conference matchups against UNCG and Howard before embarking on the five-game stretch of conference opponents. Three of the five games on the slate will be played in Happy Valley against Indiana, Northwestern and Michigan. 
 
Penn State concludes its regular season non-conference play and regular season home action hosting Detroit Mercy for a mid-week game on Wednesday, Oct. 25 before rounding out the regular season completely at Wisconsin on Sunday, Oct. 29.
 
The Big Ten Tournament is set to begin on Nov. 3 continuing through the 12. The 2023 NCAA Tournament will start with first round games on Nov. 16.
 
Prior to the start of the regular season, Penn State will play two exhibition games. The first will be at Georgetown on Friday, Aug. 11 before American comes to Jeffrey Field on Friday, Aug. 18.
 
Kickoff times are subject to change with the TV schedule to be announced at a later date.
