Penn State Earns 103-77 Exhibition Win over University of Victoria

NASSAU, Bahamas – The Penn State men's basketball team shot its way to a 103-77 win over University of Victoria (Canada) to wrap up the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League with a 2-0 record Thursday evening at the Baha Mar Convention Center.

"I liked how we started the game with our defense and I thought offensively, pretty much for most of the game, we played the right way, we got each other shots and attacked the paint," said Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades. "Kanye (Clary) got us going early attacking the paint and he and Ace (Baldwin) got downhill and got guys shots. We had 28 assists on 43 baskets, that means guys are playing the right way. I like how our guys are showing second and third efforts and not quitting on plays."

Penn State shot a strong 58.9 percent (43-73) from the field and 40.7 percent (11-27) from 3-point range in Thursday's win over Victoria. The Nittany Lions had 28 assists on 43 made field goals. The Penn State defense held Victoria to a 35.1 field goal percentage and scored 22 points off 18 Vikes' turnovers.

Kanye Clary led five Nittany Lions in double figures with 22 points on a 10-for-13 mark from the field. Clary added five rebounds and five assists in his stellar all-around effort. Zach Hicks followed with 19 points helped by a 5-for-7 showing from 3-point range.

Nick Kern Jr. tallied 16 points and six rebounds, while Puff Johnson added 15 points and six boards. Leo O'Boyle rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. Ace Baldwin Jr. dished 10 assists while adding a team-best four steals.

The Nittany Lions scored 100-plus points in both of their summer exhibition games as Penn State went 2-0 in the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League. The foreign tour marks the end of Penn State's eight weeks of summer training. The 2023-24 Penn State men's basketball season is set to begin in early November.
