Men’s Hockey Announces 2023-24 Non-Conference Slate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Head coach Guy Gadowsky and the Penn State men's ice hockey team announced their 10-game non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season earlier Wednesday morning. The schedule features three ECAC opponents, a pair of Atlantic Hockey foes and two independent teams.

The Nittany Lions open their 2023-24 campaign with three-straight road games beginning with a game on Long Island against LIU on October 7. This marks the second time in three seasons that Penn State has opened against the Sharks and it's first trip to Long Island.

The following weekend Penn State heads to the North Country to battle Clarkson and St. Lawrence on October 13 and October 14, respectively. The Nittany Lions last visited the North Country to open the 2017-18 campaign.

The Blue & White open their home slate on October 20-21 with a series against AIC at Pegula Ice Arena. Penn State last battled the Yellow Jackets on October 19-20, 2017, also to open its home slate after four-straight road games to begin the season. The two teams split that series with the Nittany Lions winning the opener and AIC salvaging the finale in overtime, 3-2.

Penn State closes out the month of October with a Thursday-Friday series in Hockey Valley against Alaska Anchorage marking the first meetings between the two teams since a Penn State sweep in November 2016.

The final non-conference series of the semester for the Nittany Lions follows the Thanksgiving holiday as one of the newest NCAA Division I programs, Lindenwood, visits Pegula Ice Arena on November 24-25.

Penn State concludes its non-conference slate to open the second semester with a January 6 meeting with Army West Point in Hockey Valley. This is just the fourth meeting between the two programs in the common era and will be the first time the Black Knights have returned to Pegula Ice Arena since a 4-1 defeat in the building's opening game on October 11, 2013.

With just five non-conference losses over the past five seasons, and coming off a perfect 10-0-0 mark in 2022-23, Penn State leads all Big Ten teams with a 0.748 winning percentage in non-conference games and 77 victories against non-Big Ten teams since the league was formed prior to the 2013-14 campaign.

Times for these games as well as television and streaming information will be released in the coming months along with the full Big Ten schedule.
