UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 15/15 Penn State women's ice hockey team secured the split series against Union with a 6-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Penn State opened the first period with a goal off the stick of Karolina Hengelmüller with 16:38 remaining in the frame to put the Nittany Lions ahead 1-0.
- The Nittany Lions added one more goal in the period off the stick of Lyndie Lobdell with 14:43 remaining to give the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead.
- Union started the second period with a goal from Celeste Beaudoin with 19:36 remaining in the frame to cut the Penn State lead to 2-1.
- The Nittany Lions then scored two unanswered goals from Katelyn Roberts and a power-play goal Julie Gough to give Penn State a 4-1 lead with 12:44 remaining in the period.
- Union scored one goal to close the frame off the stick of Ella Chiarelli to end the period with Penn State ahead 4-2.
- In the third period, Penn State went on a five-minute power-play resulting in a pair of goals by Mya Vaslet and Stella Retrum to result in the 6-2 victory.
GOALTENDERS
- Goalie Annie Spring stopped 12 shots and allowed just two goals for her third win of the season.
- Her record improves to 3-0 overall this season.

- Hengelmüller scored her first goal of her career.
