Janecke and Bothun Earn CHA Weekly Awards

BOSTON - The Penn State women's ice hockey team secured two College Hockey America (CHA) weekly awards as announced by the conference on Monday. Tessa Janecke and Josie Bothun each captured weekly awards.

Janecke was named CHA Forward of the Week for the third time this season, as she recorded one goal and three assists in the series against RIT this past week. She also won 34-44 faceoffs over the series. Her goal was the eventual game-winner in the first game of the series as she gave Penn State its first goal of the night which propelled them to a 4-0 shutout victory.

Bothun was named CHA Goaltender of the Week for the fourth time this season after securing her second shutout victory of the season in Friday's 4-0 win over RIT. Her victory placed her at the top of the CHA record book for most shutouts in a career. She was also named CHA Goaltender of the Week on Monday after registering a GAA 1.47 and tallying 47 saves over the series at RIT. On the season, Janecke has nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points.

Penn State returns to action on Friday, January 19 when they begin a two-game series at home against Syracuse. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
