Fencing Invited to Philadelphia Invitational at Penn

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – After the St. John's Invitational on Saturday in Queens, the Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will head to Philadelphia for the Philadelphia Invitational at Penn. The Nittany Lions will face fencers from NJIT, Duke, Yale, Drew (men only) and Princeton. 
 
Arwen Borowiak, Tit Nam Cheng, Spencer Burke, Aidan Johnson, Yaroslav Muruhin and Alessio Fukuda will compete in men's foil with Thea Fernandes, Arianna Proietti, Eden De La Cruz and Ariel Ratsep in women's foil. 
 
Representing Penn State in men's epee will be Devin Tafoya, Nicholas Glaz, Tingwei Xu, Peter Kambeseles, Vasil Ivakimov, Mitchel Bekker and Zach Suico with Claire Haas, Kateryna Chorniy, Axelle Wasiak and Jaclyn Khrol on the women's side. 
 
The sabre squad will consist of Neil Lilov, Kamar Skeete, Jeffrey Basalyga and Nicholas Pope for the men and Aurora Colter, Mia Novick, Ola Strzalkowski, Amelia Baker and Eunya Kim for the women.
 
Round one against NJIT will begin at 8:30 a.m. on strips ABC and CDE. Duke will follow at 9:45 a.m. with Yale at 11 a.m. Lunch will take place from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. and then the men's team will face Drew on strips 1, 2 and 4 beginning at 1 p.m. After round six against Princeton at 3:30, the Nittany Lions will be finished for the day. The men will have five bouts against each opponent and the women will have four, both with two bye rounds during five and seven.
