Men's Tennis Opens Spring Schedule At Home Against Cleveland State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Men's Tennis team begins their spring season this Sunday Jan. 21 against Cleveland State University. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. against the Vikings at the Indoor Tennis Center.  

THE NITTANY LIONS 

Entering his 13th season as head coach, Jeff Zinn will lead Penn State alongside associate head coach, Paul Tobin. Returning for the Nittany Lions this season is senior Miko Eala, who led the squad with 21 singles wins last season. Junior Loren Byers and senior Sam Bossem return after both leading the team with 15 doubles wins. Also returning to the Nittany Lions is sophomore Stefan Simeunovic.  

Freshmen Jack Martuccio, Nolan Ranger, and Alex Sterin joined the Blue and White in the fall, each competing with the squad in three fall tournaments. The Nittany Lions welcomed sophomore Ritvik Nadikude in the fall as well. Nadikude looks to compete in his first match with Penn State this spring. 

Joining Penn State this spring are freshmen Ari Cotoulas and Marcus Schoeman

PREVIEWING CLEVELAND STATE 

The Vikings begins their season Friday Jan. 19 at home against Binghamton before taking on the Nittany Lions on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions have a 5-0 all-time record against the Vikings, with Penn State clinching a 6-1 match score in their most recent meet up in 2022. 

UP NEXT 

Penn State will host Toledo next Friday, Jan. 26, at 5 p.m. ET at the Indoor Tennis Center. Temple will cap out the weekend stretch in Happy Valley on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. ET.
