Men's Tennis Prepped to Play Toledo and Temple

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's tennis is set to take on Toledo and Temple in two matches this weekend, Jan. 26-28, at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center. The Nittany Lions will start their home stretch on Friday against Toledo at 5 p.m. Closing the weekend out, Penn State will face Temple on Sunday at 1 p.m. 

The Nittany Lions will enter the weekend with a 1-0 record, after a close 4-3 win against Cleveland State this past Sunday. Miko Eala, Loren Byers, Alex Sterin and Nolan Ranger all collected wins in singles matchups. It all came down to Ranger's match, as his third set tiebreak match sealed the victory.

Scouting the Rockets 

Toledo will enter Happy Valley with a 2-3 record. The Rockets, who haven't opened at home yet, fell to Big Ten members Indiana, Illinois and #1 Ohio State, but collected wins against Butler and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Following the matchup against Penn State, the Rockets will play a neutral site dual match against Temple at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center this Saturday.  

Previewing Temple 

Following their matchup with Toledo on Saturday, the Owls will stay in University Park to face the Nittany Lions on Sunday at 5 p.m. Temple currently holds a 1-1 record with a win against Norfolk State. The Owls fell 7-0 to Old Dominion, an opponent in which the Nittany Lions will host at home on Sunday, Feb. 18. 

Up Next 

Penn State will host back-to-back doubleheader home matches next weekend. On Saturday, Feb. 3, the Blue and White will face Delaware at 10 a.m. ET. Following the conclusion of the match, the squad will play Lehigh. On Sunday, Feb. 4, Penn State will begin against Georgetown at 10 a.m. ET. Afterwards, the men will compete against Mount St. Mary's.
