BOSTON - Penn State women's ice hockey sophomore forward Tessa Janecke secured her fourth College Hockey America Forward of the Week honor of the year as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Janecke tallied eight points over the course of the two-games against Lindenwood this past week. She recorded her third career hat-trick in the Nittany Lions 10-1 victory which included a short-handed goal and a power-play. On her first goal, Janecke broke the record for fastest goal scored to start a game scoring in just 14 seconds. Amy Petersen was the previous record holder as she did it in 29 seconds against Union in 2016.
She finished Friday's victory with a total of six points as she added three assists in the game as well. On Saturday, she finished with a pair of assists to cap off the eight-point weekend.
On the year, Janecke sits fifth in the nation in points with 43 off 13 goals and 30 assists which sits third in the nation.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, Feb. 2 when they begin a two-game series at Pegula Ice Arena against Mercyhurst. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
