Nittany Lion Fencing Teams Kickoff New Year in San Jose

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will send eight fencers to compete at the January North American Cup (NAC). This month's NAC will take place in San Jose, Calif. from Jan. 5-8 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. This tournament is one of several NAC/Olympic qualifying tournaments and is the first competition of 2024 for the Nittany Lions. 
 
Neil Lilov will be the first to compete on behalf of Penn State for the weekend in Division I men's saber beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, along with freshman Eden De La Cruz competing in women's foil later that afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. 
 
On Saturday, Spencer Burke, Alessio Fukuda and Matthew Gonzales will compete in Division I men's foil with Aurora Colter in Division I women's saber to follow.
 
Devin Tafoya, Tingwei Xu and Vasil Ivakimov will represent Penn State in the Division I men's epee event on Monday. 

Lilov, Burke and Fukuda will also compete in the junior events for their respective weapons.
