BOSTON - The Penn State women's ice hockey team secured two College Hockey America (CHA) weekly awards as announced by the conference on Monday. Lyndie Lobdell and Karolina Hengelmüller each received an honor.
Lobdell was named CHA Defensive Player of the Week as she recorded one goal and one assist in the series against Union this past week. Her goal came in the opening period of game two of the series which put Penn State in a convincing 2-0 lead. The Nittany Lions propelled to a 6-2 victory leading to a split series against Union. On the year, Lobdell has six goals and six assists as she leads the Penn State defense in goals.
Hengelmüller was named CHA Rookie of the Week after her one goal and one assist performance against Union. Her goal and assist came in game two of the series as her goal came as her first collegiate goal. The goal opened the scoring for the Nittany Lions and sent Penn State to a 6-2 victory. On the year, the freshman has one goal and two assists and 10 blocked shots.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, January 12 when they begin a two-game series at RIT. Puck-drop is set for 6 p.m.
