Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State baseball, led by head coach Mike Gambino, has announced its 2024 schedule. The slate features 22 games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park and 14 games against NCAA Regional teams from a season ago. The schedule includes two College World Series participants.
 
The Nittany Lions open the 2024 campaign on Feb. 16-18 at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C. Penn State takes on Monmouth on Friday, Feb. 16 before battling Army and Monmouth on Saturday and Army on Sunday. The Black Knights won the Patriot League in 2023 and competed in the Charlottesville Regional.
 
Penn State travels to California on Feb. 23-25 to face 2023 College World Series participant Stanford. The Cardinal went 44-20 in 2023, winning the Stanford Regional and its Super Regional against Texas before falling against Wake Forest and Tennessee in Omaha. Stanford finished the 2023 campaign ranked No. 4 in the D1Baseball Poll.
 
The Blue and White visits Davidson for a four-game series on March 1-3. Saturday will feature a doubleheader. The Wildcats had a 30-24 mark in 2023.
 
Penn State takes on Virginia on Tuesday, March 5 in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers were 50-15 in 2023, winning the ACC Coastal Division. In the NCAA Tournament, Virginia won the Charlottesville regional and knocked off Duke in its Super Regional to reach the College World Series. Virginia dropped a pair of one-run contests against Florida and TCU.
 
PSU meets Harvard for a three-game series in Cary on March 8-10 to conclude Spring Break. Harvard was 15-6 in Ivy League play a year ago.
 
The Nittany Lions return to Happy Valley for an eight-game homestand beginning on March 15-17 against UMass Lowell. Penn State hosts a pair of midweek games against St. Bonaventure (March 19) and Bucknell (March 20). Bucknell reached the Patriot League championship series against Army.
 
Penn State opens Big Ten play against Michigan on March 22-24. The Wolverines finished the 2023 campaign with a 28-28 record and finished sixth in the Big Ten standings.
 
The Nittany Lions welcome Pitt to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Tuesday, March 26.
 
Penn State travels to Illinois to continue Big Ten action on March 29-31. The Fighting Illini went 25-27 overall and 12-12 in Big Ten play a year ago.
 
Penn State returns home on Tuesday, April 2 for a midweek matchup against Bucknell. The Nittany Lions host Northwestern on April 5-7 for a Big Ten series before finishing the homestand against Lehigh on Tuesday, April 9.
 
The Nittany Lions are back on the road on April 12-14 visiting Indiana for a three-game conference series. The Hoosiers went 43-20 overall and 16-8 in the Big Ten last year before going 2-2 in the Lexington Regional.
 
Penn State hosts Kent State on Tuesday, April 16. The Golden Flashes posted a 42-16 record in 2023, including 24-6 in the MAC, winning the league's regular season title.
 
The Nittany Lions travel to face Michigan State on April 19-21 in East Lansing. The Spartans were 33-22 last season, including a 12-12 mark in the Big Ten.
 
Penn State welcomes West Virginia on Wednesday, April 24. The Mountaineers were 40-20 a year ago, including 15-9 in the Big 12. They competed in the Lexington Regional and reached as high as No. 6 in the D1Baseball Poll. The Nittany Lions split the season series against WVU in 2023, including a thrilling 11-6 win in Happy Valley.
 
The Nittany Lions hosts Minnesota on April 26-28. The Gophers held a 10-14 record in Big Ten play last season.
 
Penn State travels to Annapolis, Md. for a three-game series at Navy on May 3-5 before taking on West Virginia in Morgantown on Wednesday, May 8.
 
The Blue and White takes on Rutgers at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on May 10-12. The Scarlet Knights were 33-23 overall and 14-10 in the Big Ten in 2023.
 
Penn State plays its final midweek game of the season at Pitt on Tuesday, May 14
 
Penn State concludes the regular season at Maryland on May 16-18. The Terrapins won the 2023 Big Ten regular season and tournament titles before playing in the Winston-Salem Regional.
 
The Big Ten Tournament begins on Tuesday, May 21 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha with the championship game on Sunday, May 26.
 
NCAA Regionals begin on May 31 at campus sites followed by NCAA Super Regionals on June 7-10. The College World Series, played in Omaha, is June 14-24.
 
Mike Gambino was hired in July 2023 as the 15th head coach in Penn State baseball history.
 
Penn State returns 22 members from the 2023 team. The Nittany Lions welcome 19 newcomers, including 10 transfers and nine freshmen.
