No. 14 Women's Hockey Draws with Robert Morris 4-4

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 14 Penn State women's ice hockey tied with Robert Morris 4-4 on Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Tessa Janecke would score the lone goal of the first period coming with 6:25 remaining in the frame to give Penn State a 1-0 lead.
  • With 13:09 remaining in the second frame, Alyssa Machado would score while Penn State was short-handed to put the Nittany Lions ahead 2-0.
  • Robert Morris responded later on their power-play with 11:38 remaining to cut the Penn State lead to 2-1 off the stick off Morgan Giannone.
  • The Colonials added a second goal just 34 seconds later to tie the game at 2-2 as Janelle Evans found the back of the net with 11:02 remaining in the frame.
  • Penn State was able to pocket two more goals in the frame off the sticks of Mya Vaslet with 6:19 remaining and a goal by Brianna Brooks with 5:32 remaining to give Penn State a 4-2 lead after two periods.
  • With 9:15 remaining in the third period, Robert Morris cut the Penn State lead to 4-3 as Mya Neugent scored for the Colonials.
  • Then with 48 seconds remaining in frame, Neugent would send the game into overtime with her second goal of the night making the score 4-4.
  • Neither side scored in the overtime period resulting in the 4-4 draw.

GOALTENDERS

  • Goalie Katie DeSa allowed four goals and made 27 saves.
  • Her record on the year stands at 5-1-1 on the year. 

STATS AND NOTES

  • Penn State's record moves to 18-11-2 on the year and 13-3-1 in CHA play.
  • Tessa Janecke recorded two points off a goal and an assist to up her point total to 47 on the year and 94 in her career.
  • Brooks upped her goal streak to five with a goal on Friday night.
