No. 14 Women's Hockey Falls to Robert Morris 4-3 in Overtime

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The No. 14 Penn State women's ice hockey team fell to Robert Morris 4-3 in overtime in the series finale on Saturday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Penn State took a 1-0 lead in the first period after a goal by Brianna Brooks 17:23 into the frame.
  • The Nittany Lions opened the second frame with a power-play goal off the stick of Kendall Butze to give the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead 7:34 into the frame.
  • Robert Morris answered one minute later 8:46 into the frame as they would score on the power-play to cut the Penn State lead to 2-1.
  • Penn State responded later in the frame as Brooks scored her second goal of the night 12:08 into the frame to put Penn State ahead 3-1.
  • The Colonials closed the period with a pair of goals off the sticks of Madison Primeau and Janelle Evans to tie the game at 3-3 after the second frame.
  • After a scoreless third period, Robert Morris scored the game-winner in overtime off a goal by Evans 3:41 into the overtime period to take the 4-3 victory.

GOALTENDERS

  • Goalie Katie DeSa tallied 24 saves and drops her record to 5-2-1 on the year. 

STATS AND NOTES

  • Penn State out-shot Robert Morris 68-28.
  • Tessa Janecke recorded her 33rd and 34th assists of the year to up her point total to 49 on the year and 96 in her career.
  • Brianna Brooks tallied her third multi-goal game of the year.
