UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team opens the spring portion of its season this weekend when the Nittany Lions travel to the Florida Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. beginning Friday.
 
The 54-hole tournament was originally scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, but will now begin with the first two rounds Friday due to forecasted weather in Gainesville this weekend. The final round is scheduled for Saturday, but will be moved to Sunday if weather prevents a Saturday conclusion.
 
The Gators Invitational field will feature Augusta State, host Florida, FAU, FGCU, Furman, Jacksonville, Kentucky, Liberty, Navy, Nebraska, Penn State, UCF, UNF, USF and West Virginia.
 
Penn State will be represented by Patrick Sheehan, Jake Griffin, Jimmy Meyers, Billy Pabst Jr. and Morgan Lofland at the Gators Invitational. Sheehan led the Nittany Lions in the fall portion of the 2023-24 slate with a 71.40 stroke average and a pair of top-10 finishes. Jake Griffin, Jimmy Meyers and James Allen were all mainstays in Penn State's fall lineups.
 
The Nittany Lions are set to compete in the Gators Invitational for the fifth-straight spring. Live scoring will be available throughout the event via GolfStat.
