No. 14/13 Men's Lacrosse Embarks on Road Trip to Stony Brook

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 14/13 Penn State men's lacrosse team hits the road for the first time this season for a match at Stony Brook on Saturday, Feb. 17 at noon.

SERIES HISTORY

  •  Penn State leads the series 9-2 as they last faced the Seawolves on February 18, 2023, when the Nittany Lions defeated Stony Brook 17-12. 

SCOUTING STONY BROOK

  • Stony Brook enters the game with a 1-1
  • The Seawolves are coming off a 12-16 loss against Rutgers on Feb. 10.
  • Currently, the Seawolves top point getter is Nick Dupuis with five goals and eight assists for 13 points.
  •  In net for Stony Brook stands Jamison MacLachlan who has started in both games recording a GAA of 16.39, save percentage of .436 and record of 1-1.  

FRACYON AND MALONE NAMED TO 2024 TEWAARATON WATCH LIST

  • Penn State All-Americans TJ Malone and Jack Fracyon were named to the Tewaaraton Watch List on Wednesday. The Tewaaraton Award is given annually to the most outstanding college lacrosse player. 
  • Malone was a top 25 Tewaaraton Award Finalist last season, after he was named the 2023 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, USILA Scholar All-American, Inside Lacrosse All-American, USILA All-American and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American. He was also named to the 2023 First Team All-Big Ten. 
  • The West Chester, Pa. native is coming off a career season in 2023, has returned to the Nittany Lion offense after a 73-point season off 39 goals and 34 assists. Through 52 games of his career, he's scored 110 goals and 65 assists while scooping 82 ground balls.
  • Fracyon becomes a nominee for the award after a 2023 season that featured leading the Big Ten in goals against average and save percentage in the regular season allowing just 10.89 goals per game and led the Big Ten stopping 13.88 shots per game. He also led the nation in saves a year ago with 222 saves.
  • He was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Second-Team All-American, Inside Lacrosse Second-Team All-American, Big Ten Specialist of the Year, and named to the All-Big Ten First Team all last season. 

TRAYNOR AND LEHMAN EARN BIG TEN WEEKLY HONORS

  • Penn State men's lacrosse team secured two Big Ten weekly awards as the conference announced on Tuesday. Midfielder Matt Traynor and attackman Kyle Lehman each received a weekly honor for the first time this season.
  • Traynor who was named B1G Offensive Player of the Week, tallied a career-high six goals in Saturday's 18-10 victory over Villanova. He led the Nittany Lions in goals and points while forcing three turnovers. It was Traynor's third six-point game in his career as well. On the year, Traynor has eight goals for eight points.
  • Lehman who earned B1G Freshman of the Week honors, recorded his second straight hat trick scoring three goals on Saturday against Villanova. On the year, he has already six goals and one assist in two games played.
