UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Senior captain Kristin O'Neill has been named to the 2024 Tewaaraton Watch List, the foundation announced Friday evening. This is the third consecutive year O'Neill has been named to the Watch List.
The list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award. The award is given annually to the top male and female lacrosse player in the country. The selection committee is made up of premier collegiate coaches that are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Players not named on the initial lists will have the opportunity to play their way into additional watch lists that will be announced March 7 and March 28. The final five finalists for both men's and women's will be announced in early May.
O'Neill is off to a notable start in 2024. The Odenton, Md. scored six goals and notched an assist in the Nittany Lion's season opening win against Bucknell, 22-8. O'Neill surpassed 150 career points and reached 125 career goals in the victory.
In addition to being named to the watch list, she was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American, an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American and a Big Ten Player to Watch. She was also chosen by IL as a top 50 returning player to watch in DI lacrosse in 2024.
The midfielder is one of 13 Big Ten student-athletes selected for the watch list.
