Ezeonu Named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Toby Ezeonu was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping No. 9 Penn State Men's Volleyball post two wins over No. 15 Princeton to open the conference schedule.
 
Ezeonu hit .636 while averaging 2.29 kills, 1.14 aces and 1.00 blocks per set over the two wins. He opened the weekend with a dominant offensive performance, hitting .846 with 11 kills and three aces in a four-set win. The 6-7 middle blocker helped Penn State get a sweep in the second match with his career-high five aces, including four in the first set alone.
 
It's the second EIVA award for Ezeonu this season. He was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Nittany Lions to back-to-back wins over then-No. 1 Ohio State.
 
Five Penn State players have combined for seven EIVA weekly awards this season, including Ezeonu (Offensive, Defensive), Michal Kowal (Offensive 2x), John Kerr (Offensive), Michael Valenzi (Offensive) and Ryan Merk (Defensive).
 
Penn State continues EIVA play with a pair of home matches against NJIT in Rec Hall's South Gym. The teams play Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 4 p.m.
