Kane Earns Second-Straight Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field's Kileigh Kane earned her second-straight Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week award for her performance as the anchor leg in the Nittany Lions' record-setting DMR run this past weekend, the conference announced Wednesday.

Kane, a State College native, collects this week's honor thanks to her and her team's incredible 10:49.05 distance medley relay mark. The time broke the Penn State and Big Ten record in the event, and slotted in as the No. 7 time in collegiate history. Kane, herself, split a 4:33.42 in the mile as the anchor leg of the historic relay team.

The Penn State middle-distance runner earns her second career Big Ten weekly accolade, earning the Nittany Lions' seventh Big Ten weekly award of 2024. The four Women's Track Athletes of the Week earned by Penn State's squad are the most earned during an indoor season since the group also earned four during the 2010 indoor campaign.
