No. 12/13 Men's Lacrosse Tramples Navy 13-3

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The No. 12/13 Penn State men's lacrosse team earned their third straight victory on Saturday with a 13-3 win over Navy.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Penn State scored four unanswered goals in the first quarter with pair of goals coming from junior Will Peden with 14:16 and 13:03 remaining in the quarter.
  • Matt Traynor and TJ Malone closed the opening quarter with goals with 10:37 and 2:36 remaining to put Penn State ahead 4-0.
  • Navy answered in the second quarter scoring back-to-back goals with 12:57 and 4:19 left in the half to cut the Penn State lead to 4-2.
  • Penn State closed the half with another goal by Will Peden with 1:52 remaining in the half to give Penn State a 5-2 lead after two quarters.
  • After Navy opened the third quarter with an early goal with 14:50 remaining in the quarter, Penn State would counter with eight unanswered goals for the rest of the game which featured two by Matt Traynor and Ethan Longs as well as and one by Peden, Luke Walstrum, Mac Costin, and Jake Morin to secure the 13-3 victory.

GOALTENDERS

  • Junior goalie Jack Fracyon stopped 15 shots on 18 attempted to pick up his third victory of the season.

STATS AND NOTES

  • Will Peden scored a career-high four goals.
  • 10 goals are the largest margin of victory Penn State has had over Navy in program history.
  • Matt Traynor scored his third straight three goal or more game this season.
  • Ethan Long recorded his second multi-goal game of the year.
