Swimming and Diving Finishes Strong at Big Ten Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Penn State Nittany Lions Women's Swimming and Diving  finished the Big Ten Championships today capping off what has been a great effort by all swimmers.

The Nittany Lions finished in ninth out of the 12 schools that attended the meet. 

In the 200 back, Molly Carson and Abby Henderson qualified for the final with two fast times of 1:57.63 and 1:58.94. In the final, Carson finished 16th for the Nittany Lions with a time of 1:57.99. Anna Redican finished with a time of 2:01.86 which was good for 24th. 

In the 100 free, Cat Stanford finished in the 22nd position after a great swim in the final where  she touched in 49.83.

In the mile swim, standout sophomore distance swimmer Morgan Moore continued to capitalize on her great season finishing in 16th with a time of 16:28.42. 

In the 400 free relay, the Nittany Lions swam to a fifth place finish as Catherine Meisner, Stanford, Maura Fluehr and Margaret Markvardt touched the wall in 3:16.83. 

Next weekend, the men's swimming and diving team will compete in the Big Ten Championships beginning Wednesday Feb. 28 and ending Saturday, March 2.
