DeSa Named CHA Goaltender of the Week

BOSTON - Penn State women's ice hockey sophomore goalie Katie DeSa was named the College Hockey America (CHA) Goaltender of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

DeSa led Penn State to a series sweep against visiting Mercyhurst this week, stopping 40-of-42 shots in the series and registering her second career shutout. The Pawcatuck, Conn., native opened the series with a 22-save shutout against the Lakers before holding Mercyhurst to a pair of goals in a 3-2 overtime win on Saturday.

Over her last five starts, DeSa is 5-0 and has allowed only four goals on 96 shots for a .958 save percentage and an 0.80 goals-against average. This is her first career CHA weekly honor.

DeSa and the rest of the Nittany Lions return to action on Friday, Nov. 9 when they travel to face Robert Morris for a two-game series. Puck-drop is set for 7 p.m.
