Men's Lacrosse Earns Three Big Ten Weekly Award Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Penn State men's lacrosse team captured three Big Ten weekly awards as the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Matt Traynor, Sam Sweeney, and Jack Fracyon each received a weekly award honor.
 
Traynor who was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, tallied a career-high seven goals and eight points in the Nittany Lions 20-9 victory over No. 8 Cornell on Saturday. The junior has tallied at least five points in three of the six games played this season. On the year, Traynor has recorded 23 goals and four assists for 27 points. This is Traynor's second weekly award honor by the Big Ten this season.
 
Fracyon was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week for his dominate play in net against No. 8 Cornell on Saturday. He stopped 14 shots while holding Cornell to just nine goals in the Nittany Lions 20-9 victory. With the win, it marked his fifth straight victory of the year. This season, Fracyon tallies a 5-1 record, GAA of 9.80 and save percentage of .570. This is Fracyon's second Big Ten weekly award this season.
 
Sweeney was named Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against No. 8 Cornell on Saturday. He scooped four ground balls while causing one turnover in the Nittany Lions 20-9 victory. The Nittany Lion defense forced a total of nine turnovers in the game. This is Sweeney's first weekly award honor this season.
 
Penn State returns to action on Saturday, March 16 when they travel to face Marquette for a neutral site game in Springfield, Pa.
