ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men's gymnasts Luke Esparo and Michael Jaroh earn Big Ten Weekly Awards after their performances this past weekend at Michigan.
Esparo earns his second Freshman of the Week honor after taking the individual event victory on rings. His third of the season.
The Wallingford, Ct. native put up a career high score of 14.450. The freshman helped the team achieve a season high score of 71.200 on rings. Esparo is currently ranked 16th in the nation in the event.
Michael Jaroh shares his first Big Ten weekly award of the season with Ohio State's Parker Thackston. Jaroh is named Event Specialist of the Week after claiming the pommel horse individual event title in his home state.
The senior posted a career high score of 14.700. His previous best was 14.100, set his freshman year. This is Jaroh's third pommel horse title this season. Jaroh is ranked 22nd in the nation in the event.
Penn State has now earned seven Big Ten Weekly Awards this season.
The Nittany Lions will return to action at Rec Hall this Saturday against No. 4 Illinois at 4 p.m.
