Head Coach John Gondak's Penn State group begins its outdoor season following strong indoor showings from both the men's and women's programs. On the women's side, Hayley Kitching's fourth-place finish in the women's 800-meters at the NCAA Championships highlighted individual competition while the team captured second place in the Big Ten at the conference championship meet. For the men, a pair of First Team All-America finishes from Cheickna Traore propelled the squad to a 21st-place final standing in the country at the NCAA Championships following the team's third-place finish at the Big Ten level.
The Nittany Lions return three outdoor First Team All-Americans to their squad this season in Handal Roban (men's 800-meters), Mallory Kauffman (women's shot put), and Evan Dorenkamp (men's 1500-meters). Penn State aims to start strong during the opening weekend of the 2024 outdoor season and continue to build momentum through the month of April to arrive at the Big Ten championships in a position to contend for both men's and women's team titles once again.
