UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams qualified 11 fencers for the 2024 NCAA National Championships. The first two days of competition were dedicated to the women's events. All five women who competed in their respective weapons finished in the top 20, including one All-American.
Kateryna Chorniy notched 11/23 wins in epee to claim 11th place and Jaclyn Khrol won 10/23 to take 20th place.
Captain Samantha Catantan finished the day in 10th place with Arianna Proietti in 12th.
Lone sabre fencer Ola Strzalkowski placed 17th in sabre.
Ahead of the men's events taking place Saturday and Sunday, Penn State's team score currently sits in 7th place.

The men's team, with six qualifiers, will begin their NCAA run on Saturday at 9 a.m. with rounds 1-3 of epee. Men's foil will begin at 11 a.m. with sabre to conclude the day at 1:30 p.m. Rounds four and five will start Sunday morning at 9 a.m. with semifinals and finals at 1:30 p.m.
