First Day of Men’s Fencing NCAA Championships Complete

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's and women's fencing teams have 11 qualifiers competing at the NCAA Championships from March 21-24 at The Ohio State University's French Field House. On day three of action, the Nittany Lions had six fencers from the men's team compete in rounds 1-3 of their respective weapons. 
 
Arwen Borowiak and Tit Nam Cheng competed in foil with Tingwei Xu and Devin Tafoya in epee and Neil Lilov in sabre.
 
After three rounds, Xu sits in 11th place in epee as he won 8/15 bouts. Tafoya won 3/15 and is currently in 23rd place. 
 
In foil, Cheng and Boworiak won 7/15 each to claim 15th and 16th place. 
 
Lilov had a near perfect day, dropping only one bout to go into day two in 2nd place. Skeete, not far behind, won 11/15 and currently sits in 5th place.
 
All fencers from the men's team will continue fencing tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. with rounds four and five. Semifinals and championship bouts will begin at 1:30 p.m. in St. John Arena (an extension of the French Field House). These bouts will be aired on ESPN+ as well.
