O’Neill Named IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Penn State women's lacrosse senior midfielder Kristin O'Neill has been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Offensive Player of the Week, the association announced Tuesday. 
 
O'Neill earns the honor after putting up a stellar performance in Penn State's 14-13 overtime victory over No. 1 Northwestern. The captain scored the game winning goal from the eight-meter line with less than two minutes left in overtime. The game winner was the 150th goal of her career. She is now ranked 12th all-time in program history in goals scored. 
 
The Odenton, Md. native scored six goals and scooped up three ground balls Friday evening. 
 
O'Neill has started every game this season for the Nittany Lions, registering 31 goals and 65 shots. She ranks fourth in the Big Ten in goals per game with 3.10 goals.
 
O'Neill is currently No. 1 in the country in free position goals per game with 1.70
 
O'Neill was named an IL Preseason All-American in February.
 
Penn State returned to the national rankings at No. 19 after spending the last three weeks unranked. Women's lacrosse will travel to Columbus to face Big Ten opponent Ohio State at 7 p.m.
