Nittany Lions Set Three Top Ten Program Marks at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – Penn State track & field's distance athletes put on an outstanding show at the Raleigh Relays on Thursday and Friday. The Nittany Lions produced three top ten program marks through the two-day competition, including No. 2 program marks for Florence Caron in the 5K and Sophia Toti in the 10K.

FRIDAY SUMMARY

Penn State's 1500-meter group got things started on Friday evening with four PRs. Yukichi Ishii, last week's Big Ten Men's Track Athlete of the Week, paced the group with a 3:45.58 while Luke Seymour (3:47.81), Tanner Piotrowski (3:49.25) and Kevin Haas (3:49.96) all went sub-3:50.

The Nittany Lion 5K contingent collected three PRs in the nightcap as well, with Ryan Watson leading the way with a 14:11.97 personal-best mark. Hayden Healey finished just behind Watson with a 14:17.65.

SATURDAY SUMMARY

Makenna Krebs' ninth-place finish in the steeplechase (10:19.26) started things off on Friday for the Nittany Lions. Allison Dougherty set a PR with a 10:34.93 in her 19th-place finish.

In the women's 5K, Caron's 15:42.61 earned her sixth place overall with the second-fastest 5K time in Penn State history, and fastest since 1978. Kileigh Kane finished 12th overall with her own PR, going 15:58.52, the seventh-fastest 5K by a Penn State woman. Faith DeMars clocked a 16:30.88 as the Nittany Lions had three runners in the top 50.

Finally, in the women's 10K, Sophia Toti finished 0.56 seconds off of the Penn State school record with a 32:57.89 for tenth overall in the invite section.
