COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Penn State women's ice hockey sophomore forward Tessa Janecke was named to the United States Women's Ice Hockey National team as announced by USA Hockey on Sunday.
Janecke will suit back up for the red, white, and blue after a successful tryout at the U.S. Women's National Team Evaluation camp for a second straight year.
The Orangeville, Ill. native will be part of the team competing at the 2024 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship from April 3-14 in Utica, N.Y. Janecke was a member of the 2023 IIHF Gold Medal Team where they won it in Canada.
This will be Janecke's second appearance for team USA this season as she skated for team USA in the Rivalry Series in December 2023.
The sophomore was recently named an CCM/AHCA Second Team All-American after a career-high year. Her sophomore season consisted of being named to the First Team All-CHA, CHA Player, and Forward of the Year, finished the regular season as the leagues scoring champion after recording a career-high 16 goals, and 36 assists for 52 points. In conference play alone she racked up a total of 35 points off 12 goals and a league leading 23 assists.
The sophomore was named CHA Forward of the Week four times and CHA Forward of the Month three times. She also tallied two hat-tricks this season coming against Lindenwood and Dartmouth. On the year, Janecke recorded a total of 53 points which sits tied for eighth in the nation while she led the nation in faceoff wins with 630 and is tied for fourth in assists with 36.
Janecke also became the fastest player in program history to hit 100 career points that she accomplished after scoring a goal against RIT in the second game of the CHA tournament semifinals. She was also named a Top 10 Patty Kazmaier Award finalist for the first time in her career.
