Nittany Lions Add Seven-Foot Transfer Yanic Konan Niederhauser

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades announced the addition of seven-foot forward transfer Yanic Konan Niederhauser to the Nittany Lion program Thursday. Konan Niederhauser joins Penn State with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Konan Niederhauser spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Northern Illinois where he appeared in 47 games. He is coming off a 2023-24 campaign that saw him start in 26 of 27 appearances while averaging 7.3 points per game on a 54.1 field goal percentage. The forward averaged 4.4 rebounds per game and led the Huskies with 2.1 blocks per game. He scored in double figures in nine games throughout his sophomore campaign, including a career-best 27 points on 9-of-11 shooting against Central Michigan on March 5. Konan Niederhauser saw action in 20 games during his true freshman season with the Huskies, averaging 2.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per contest.
 
A Switerzerland native, Konan Niederhauser owned an accomplished international career before playing collegiately at Northern Illinois. He played with German club team Ehingen Urspring in 2021-22, splitting time between its youth team and top team in the German Pro A League. He appeared in six games in the Pro A League, scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds and five blocks. Konan Niederhauser also played internationally with the Swiss Under-18 National Team at the 2021 U18 European Challengers, where he averaged 10.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest.
