Gilmore and MacKinney Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State women's lacrosse claimed two Big Ten weekly awards after their 16-13 upset win over Johns Hopkins to earn the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.

Gretchen Gilmore was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Kelly MacKinney was dubbed Freshman of the Week.

Gilmore notched her sixth hat trick of the season and collected three assists Thursday evening. Her offensive efforts propelled the Nittany Lions to victory to help them secure their highest seeding in the tournament since 2017.

The senior also registered her 100th career point, reaching it in 56 games.

MacKinney played a huge role in giving Penn State the momentum they needed to come from behind and earn the victory. The freshman scored two goals, one of which was a behind the back goal that put the Nittany Lions up 11-7 in the third quarter.

This is Gilmore's second career weekly honor and MacKinney's first.
