Head Coach John Gondak's group enters this year's Penn Relays on an outstanding streak of success, including PRs and top-ten program marks at last weekend's Virginia Challenge. The Nittany Lions seek to continue their strong performance, not only this season, but at the historic meet itself this coming weekend. Penn State has won the last two College Women's 4x800-meter Championship of America races at the Relays, setting the school record in the event in 2022 and then again in 2023. The Nittany Lions last earned individual wins in 2022 with Tyler Merkley taking the men's hammer throw crown and Chloe Royce winning the women's long jump.

The Nittany Lions have won 38 total relay championships in the history of the meet, with the earliest being the 1920 College Men's 4xMile and DMR Championships of America and the most recent being the aforementioned 2023 College Women's 4x800 Championship of America.

Penn State's women's 1500-meter squad entered the top ten this week, giving the Nittany Lions five top ten-ranked event squads in Division I. Led by the No. 1 men's shot put team, the Nittany Lions also boast the No. 2 women's 800-meter group, the No. 3 men's 800-meter squad, and the No. 10 women's 5K and 1500-meter teams.
