UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State University men's swimming and diving team earned All-American honors for two individual swimmers and a relay team.
Junior Mariano Lazzerini and sophomore Cooper Morley were presented individual All-Americans for their respective events while the medley relay team of Lazzerini, Morley, Lachlan Byrne and Matthew Bittner also received All-American honors.
Morley, the New Zealand native had an impressive campaign this past season achieving several top times individually and qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay teams. Morley's time of 45.27 at the Big Ten Championships in the 100 back was good enough for second position and helped him qualify for the NCAA Finals. In the finals, Morley finished 14th which earned him second team All-American honors.
Lazzerini set a new school record in the 100 breast this season at Big Ten Championships which helped propel him to NCAA Championships. He was the Big Ten Champion in the 100 breast with a time of 51.08. In the NCAA Finals, Lazzerini finished in the 14th position which secured him second team All-American honors.
The 400-medley relay team enjoyed continuous success throughout the year. The relay squad of Lazzerini, Morley, Byrne and Bittner finished 16th overall at NCAA Championships and earned second team All-American laurels.
