Baseball Lands Four On All-Big Ten Teams

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State baseball team landed four Nittany Lions on All-Big Ten teams, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Grad student catcher J.T. Marr and grad student outfielder Adam Cecere were tabbed to the second team, while redshirt freshman third baseman Bryce Molinaro was named to the third team. Pitcher Mason Horwat was selected to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and senior C.J. Pittaro earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
 
Penn State had three players selected to All-Big Ten teams (first, second or third) for the first time since 2012.

  • Has played in 149 games (147 starts) in his collegiate career.

  • In 51.2 innings, tallied 28 strikeouts and only 21 walks.
  • Tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week on May 20.
  • Has eight outings going 1+ innings and allowing no earned runs.
  • Collected first career save with three scoreless innings at Stanford (2/24).
  • Got the start against Davidson (3/3), going five innings and allowing one hit and two runs while picking up the win.
  • Has not allowed a run in 10-straight innings over three appearances against Rutgers (5/12) and Maryland (5/16, 5/17).
  • Fired four shutout innings against Rutgers (5/12).
  • Picked up the save with four scoreless frames against Maryland (5/16) and earned a win with three shutout innings against the Terrapins on May 17.

Sportsmanship Award

  • Has played in 58 games at Penn State, making 31 starts.

  • Graduated in early May with his bachelor's degree in communications, arts and sciences.
  • Selected Academic All-Big Ten in 2023.

 
Penn State, in its first season under head coach Mike Gambino, finished the regular season with a 26-23 overall record and a 12-12 mark in Big Ten play.
 
The Nittany Lions posted their first winning record since 2016 and maintained a .500 or better mark for the entire season for the first time since 2011.
 
Penn State opens the Big Ten Tournament Presented by IFS.ai on Tuesday against top-seed Illinois at 7 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network and the FOX Sports app. The tournament is being played at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb.
